Roald Dahl Museum Trip

18th October 2017

Kandinsky class enjoyed a fantastic day at the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre on Wednesday 18th October 2017.

They enjoyed learning more about his life in the Boy and Solo galleries and especially enjoyed trying on replicas of his school and RAF uniforms. The children loved measuring themselves against the height chart of characters - we had everything from an Oompa Loompa to Miss Trunchbull in our group!

The focused sessions reinforced our class work on editing and we looked at the ways Roald Dahl edited his work, created our own vocabulary as he did and matched the published titles to the working titles of his books. Can you work out what books “The Almost Ducks” and “The Miracle Child” were eventually published as?

The day ended with a session in the story centre where we dressed up as characters, whispered our dreams into the BFG’s dream jar so that they will come true and created our own crazy characters. Our museum leader Jo praised our children for their impressive vocabulary and great behaviour. Well done Kandinsky class!
