8th May 2015
Thank you to everyone who helped us to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of VE Day.. We had a smashing old fashioned knees up this afternoon and enjoyed listening to the tunes of the 1940s as well as making peace doves and thinking about what it might have been like during the war. The costumes were amazing - well done to everyone to joined in the fun.
The children also had the opportunity to see a poppy from the recent ‘Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red’ installation at the Tower of London. They were also given a pocket book of the Gospel according to St John, which was a replica of the books given to soldiers who were sent on active service during the first world war. These books were kindly donated by the Medway Christian Fellowship.
This celebration has formed part of our work on democracy and British values.
