Staying E-safe with Abbots Ripton

Technology at school

Your child will use a range of technology at school and they will access the internet in many learning tasks.  To support them with this we teach  online safety explicitly at school using the 'Educating for a Connected World' Primary Online Safety Framework.  This is taught in Computing lessons both as units of learning as well as being weaved throughout the curriculum.  We see this as essential ICT skill for the children to learn as they grow up in the modern world.

Understandably, there are concerns about children accessing inappropriate material when working online - but we have taken positive steps to deal with this risk in school.

* As an integral part of our Safeguarding training, all staff have undertaken online safety training.

* The school's IT system operates a robust filtering system that restricts pupils access to inappropriate material.

* The school has an Online Safety Policy which been viewed in ur policies tab.

* Pupils are supervised when working online.

* Pupil's online learning is (including when they are messaging each other) are monitored by staff.

TikTok is a social networking app that replaced the popular Musical.ly app when it went offline in 2017. It gives users the ability to watch and create short clips of up to 60 seconds. With 1 billion active users across 155 countries, it seeks to promote safety and has recently released a range of safety videos to promote its safety tools.  They can be found by clicking here

Parent Zone

Share Aware

Share Aware, our online safety campaign, is a great resource to help parents keep their children safe on social networks, apps and games.  It can be hard to keep track of what your child is doing on social networks, apps and games. Or know how to keep them safe.

That's why the NSPCC has teamed up with O2. Together we're helping parents untangle the web. And teach their children to be Share Aware.  If you take your child's phone to any O2 shop, they will help you to set up parental controls - free of charge even if you don't shop or have a contract with O2.

Because, just like in real life, kids need your help to stay safe online.

Net Aware

Net Aware is an online tool that informs parents about the social networks, apps and games that children might be using. We look at the frequency of inappropriate content, how robust and easy to find the privacy settings are, and why children like using the sites. We regularly update Net Aware with new apps, and parents can sign up to Net aware newsletters to keep up with  digital trends.
