Winter Grant Scheme Information

In November, the government announced funding for Local Authorities for the COVID Winter Grant Scheme. This grant is intended to provide a range of support to families over Christmas and February half term when schools will be closed. This will be in the form of a voucher for children eligible for Free School Meals and the Local Authority has also acknowledged that some families may not meet the criteria but are in need of help.
 
Therefore they have set up a network of coordination hubs run by the city and district councils which will help families to access support, this may include:
- Access to Food
- Support with utilities e.g. help with bills or making your home more energy efficient
- Household items relating to warmth, hygiene, and cooking
 
All information about the local offer is in the letter attached and the frequently asked questions document should clarify any queries. Please do ask though if you would like any clarification.
 
If your child is eligible for free school meals and you do not wish to receive the food vouchers, please do let us know as these can be reallocated.
